Hi, I'm Katerina.

I am a mom of two girls (this is a huge part of my identity) and an extroverted introvert. I bond through banter and soul-baring conversations. Not a people-pleaser or a sugar-coater, but I am a sensitive soul. I am Russian, so I dress warm, speak my mind, keep a well-stocked medicine cabinet and feed my children soup. No bears here, just a Corgi.

I’m happiest exploring the outdoors with my little family or curled up with a book and yet another cup of tea. I love rich colours, skiing, wandering through museums, traveling and diluting my drinks with soda water.

What inspires me?

Nature and people’s ideas. My children keep me grounded. 20th century art feeds my soul. Classic literature is my escapism. Travel keeps me energised. Human brain fascinates me. Currently obsessed with Tolstoy, Vienna Secession and how empathy works.

Just For Fun

Nothing fake, nothing forced – just life in full colour.

Born and raised in St.Petersburg, Russia (the most beautiful city on Earth – don’t even attempt to argue)

Met my husband when I was 17 (and here we are 20 years later).

Studied Psychology and MBA in San Diego, CA (still missing fresh ahi tuna and the sun).

On New Year’s Day in 2012, we moved to Fleet, Hampshire (a blind move for my husband’s job – never visited before).

I was an HR Analyst and a dog trainer (love dogs and spreadsheets).

Had Sonja in 2015, and knew immediately an office job was not for me.

While pregnant with Anja, I enrolled at the British Academy of Photography (it wasn’t very well planned, then Covid happened, so it took me a long time to finish my diploma).

Launched my photography business in 2023 (still haven’t got a good marketing routine).

My Photography Story

At 14, I joined a photography after-school club with my first film camera. Monday evenings were spent in the darkroom (ah, the smell of chemicals!) and critiquing our work—one teacher’s comment about my careless lighting giving my subject a crooked nose still echoes in my mind to this day. Since then, I have always carried a camera with me, recording the fleeting moments of life. (Don’t all photographers say this?)

After the birth of my first daughter, photography took on a new significance. Children change so fast: a blink – and the moment is gone forever. I want to capture as many such moments as I can before they slip away. I am endlessly fascinated by the world of childhood: its uninhibited emotions, simple joys and daily adventures. I’m also drawn to honest, unpolished portrayals of motherhood and family life. I love conceptual photography, which inspires my branding work (will always try to sneak in some wild ideas into my proposals).

When No One’s Watching

When I need to process an emotion or an idea, I take self-portraits. Unlike my usual happy and vibrant work, they tend to come out dark and moody, and I rarely share them. When I need a breather, I wander the local park with my camera and obsess over backlit teasels (or some such). I have a separate Instagram account for all that if you’re curious.
